Lighthouse-related equipment

The lighthouse-related equipment on display was collected and preserved by the Coast Guard Experimental Research Center.
The oldest items include a fifth-class fixed lens made in France in 1900 (Meiji 33), a fourth-class single flash lens made in France in 1916 (Taisho 5) that was used at the Notoro Cape Lighthouse in Hokkaido, and eight other lenses with rotating mechanisms, including the largest of the lighthouse-related equipment in the museum's collection, a third-class small single flash lens made in 1951 (Showa 26) that was used at the Inaho Cape Lighthouse in Hokkaido.
In particular, the fourth-class six-lens flash lens manufactured by the Japan Coast Guard in 1953 and used at the Koshiki Island Lighthouse in Nagasaki Prefecture is equipped with a weight winding device that allows you to manually wind up the weight, and the energy from the weight falling rotates the lens, allowing you to rotate the handle, making it a very valuable experience.
There are also five beacon lights, including the first beacon light in Japan (Isozaki Lighthouse, Ibaraki Prefecture), which was made in the United States in 1951.
There are eight buoy lights, lanterns, and LED lights, including some of the earliest LED lights.
In addition, although light sources for lighthouses are now light bulbs and LEDs, there are three oil lamps, five gas lamps, and light bulb samples from the old days when oil or gas flames were used as light sources. There are also three types (units) of daylight valves, which detect daytime and switch the lights on and off at night, which are extremely valuable from a technical standpoint.
In addition, lens materials, bending molds, and finished lighthouse lenses are also on display, making it the perfect place to learn about the lens manufacturing process.
Apparently there aren't many places in Japan that have this many varieties.
