USER GUIDE
The Museum of Industrial Technology was established on the Nippon Institute of Technology campus in 1987 as one of the school's 80th-anniversary projects. The museum exhibits more than 400 industrial products, mainly machine tools of high historical value, that have contributed to the development of Japanese industry. The collection includes around 270 pieces of machine tools, of which approximately 70% are preserved in working condition and exhibited to the public in chronological order of model and manufacture. In addition to individual machine tools, old work shops are preserved in working condition and exhibited. Another attraction is an actual steam locomotive made in the UK in 1891, which was used for many years by Japan National Railways. This locomotive is also preseved in working condition and operated on a campus track. Other exhibits include a Hakone Tozan Railway train that operated for about 100 years and a large gas turbine developed as a national project.
